30 Days: Day 20 – Trees

One of the things that I really love about our house is that we’re surrounded by trees on almost every side.  It really drives me crazy to drive through or pass by some of these newer home developments and not see a single tree anywhere in the neighborhood.  So it should come as no surprise that I didn’t have to go far to come up with my subject material for day 20′s Trees post.

I love all of the trees in my yard, especially the black and green ash ones, and I tend to photograph them all pretty regularly in one way or another.  I also use the trees as a testing ground for new photography toys, such as pinhole cameras, new zoom lens, etc.  Thus far with this project I’ve pretty consistently stuck to my regular photography setup (digital camera with either zoom lens or 50 mm prime), but for this particular photo I decided to use my Diana 35mm super wide lens mounted to my Canon.  I’ve done digital Diana photography in the past and had a blast doing it, I love the dreamy look it gives photos.  It’s been ages since I played around with the technique, so I’m going to try to do a full set of digital Diana shots in the near future, hopefully starting this week.
