30 Days: Day 21 – Monochromatic (NOT Black/White)
I really had no idea what to shoot on day 21. The theme of monochromatic day really seemed easy enough, and I was partly hoping to have a fresh batch of bananas to shoot for the day, since I didn’t get to use them on day 16′s fruit theme, but bananas don’t last long in my house, so that was out, and much of the afternoon was dedicated to trying to come up with something else instead.
I was still thinking about what I could shoot as I started cooking dinner for the family that evening. I had found a recipe for a “zucchini pizza casserole” over the weekend, and I was testing out my low-fat, vegetarian version of it. The first step to making the casserole was to shred about four cups of zucchini, and then strain all of the moisture out of it. That’s easier said than done, by the way, but when I finally managed to remove as much of the moisture that I could, I was left with this (kind of) mostly dry, light greenish mass of zucchini destined to soon become the base of my casserole. Hard as it may be to believe, it’s not every day that I shred large quantities of zucchini, so this mass of solitary green was a welcome sight. I did intensify the color just a tad in post-processing, but this was a nice and unexpected surprise on monochromatic day, so I couldn’t pass it up.
